Minutes
August 10, 2000
The meeting was called to order at 6:00 P.M. Reading Town Hall, Berger Room, and 16
Lowell Street, Reading, Massachusetts by Acting Chairman Nancy Carlson, Colleen
Henessey - Seferian and staff liaison Jane Fiore, Health Services Administrator were
present.
The minutes of the June 8, 2000 were read. Nancy Carlson made a motion to accept the
minutes as read seconded by Colleen Seferian and approved as read 2:0:0.
Next order of business:
• Report on WNV - status in reading - no mosquitoes detected carrying the virus all
birds negative as on this meeting date.
• Review plan of Wendy's Restaurant construction on south Main Street tabled until
September meeting.
• Reorganization of the Board of Health tabled until the September meeting. Full
Board not present at meeting.
+ Dangerous Dog issue at 1480 Main Street update reported. Fence installed and animal
removed from quarantine. Owner has removed the animal from the premises as of
August 10, 2000.
• Discussion of Zoning Board of Appeals request of the Board of Health regarding
public health issues at the 443 Grove St. site. Board discussed the following items to
be listed in the letter: evaluate the aquifer protection district, to evaluate impact on
private potable wells in the area, to review adequate sewer and water capabilities for
the proposed 19 housing units, evaluate water table to set cellar floor elevations at 2
feet above recorded and verified water table, evaluate highway noise level using an
acoustical engineer, if or when the site is approved for construction the builder/owner
will keep the site clear of trash and debris.
• Lengthy discussion was held regarding Junior Olympic Shooting Camp meeting
minimum recreational camp regulations.
New business
• Review of 2001 goals will be discussed at the September meeting
Motion was made to adjourn meeting at 7:35 p.m. By Colleen Seferian. Seconded by
Nancy Carlson. Meeting adjourned at 7:40 p.m. 2:0:0
