HomeMy WebLinkAbout2000-10-12 Board of Health MinutesBoard of Health Meeting Minutes October 12, 2000 The meeting was called to order at 6:02 P.M. Reading Town Hall, Berger Room, and 16 Lowell Street, Reading, Massachusetts Chairman James J. Nugent, and Nancy Carlson, Colleen Henessey - Seferian and staff liaison Jane Fiore, Health Services Administrator were present. The minutes of the September 14, 2000 were read. Nancy Carlson made a motion to accept the minutes as read seconded by Colleen Seferian and approved as read 3:0:0. Next order of business: • Report was delivered to the board that Wendy's is no longer interested in the site on South Main Street. • Flu update, vaccine will be picked up in a partial shipment on Monday, October 16, 2000. The October 25 clinic is set for over 65 years and reading residents only. As recommended by the Board a police officer will be at the clinic. October 24 senior housing and Home bound visits will begin after vaccine is on hand. Discussion took place regarding publicity of clinic. September 28 senior center workshop was held - Topic "Staying Healthy During Flu Season". • 1480 Main Street canine issue tabled. Owner of animal not present. New Business • Request from Mill and Short Street resident, John Costigan that the BOH support the neighborhood petition for curbing as a safety issue for the children of the neighborhood. The Board discussed the public health issue of unintentional injury from collision, bicycles, motor vehicles etc. The board will review the area and the citizen input before making a decision. The issue was table (3:0:0) until the November 9, 2000 meeting. • The Board reviewed the NACCHO video on the Public Health Core Functions and Essential Services. Two Board members viewed the=video after the public meeting was adjourned.
