The meeting was called to order at 6:05 P.M. Reading Town Hall, Berger Room, 16
Lowell Street, Reading, Massachusetts, by James J. Nugent, Jr., Chairman, Colleen
Seferian, Vice Chair and Barbara Meade, secretary and staff liaison Jane Fiore, Health
Services Administrator were present.
The minutes of the March 13, 2003 were accepted as read 3:0:0.
Next order of business:
+ Tobacco program discussed. The state has a little more than one million dollars left in
the program if the legislator leaves the funds in the tobacco line item CDC will match
the funds. This will allow the seven programs to survive another 18 months. As
always the budget depends on a vote by the legislature.
+ Landfill discussed. Pest management has been working with three neighbors. Letters
to 130 abutters have been sent regarding the pest management program. Suffick
Construction has been very cooperative with the Health Administrator as well as the
Pest Management Company F& W of Quincy.
+ Next order of business: Menomune clinic will be held May 2, 2003 at Reading
Memorial High School. Suggestions for next year program to offer information at a
senior parent night.
+ Review section 9.4.2 change 3 years to 5 years for PIC to hold valid food preparation
program. Colleen Seferian moved to make change in regulation seconded by Barbara
Meade and voted 3:0:0
+ Decision regarding Getty Gas Station and the sale of tobacco to minor was health
code. Getty will remove their tobacco product on May 1 through May 7. The Tobacco
program will handle the issues.
+ Administrative report :
Report on discussion with MASSPRO application for reimbursement of flu
and pneumonia immunizations. The Board was informed of the limited
finance of the state and therefore limited supply of the vaccine.
Housing issues discussed
Motion to adjourn the meeting was made by Barbara Meade at 7:25 seconded by Colleen
Seferian and voted 3:0:0.
