Minutes
March 3, 2005
The meeting was called to order at 6:05 PM Reading Town Hall, Berger Room, Reading,
Massachusetts, Chairman, Colleen Seferian, and Barbara Meade. Staff liaison Jane Fiore,
Health Services Administrator. Member David Singer excused
The minutes of the December 9, 2004 and January 13, 2005 read and accepted. 2:0:0
Order of Business:
• Public Health Nurse position discussed - vacancy continues. Board members will
discuss the open position with professional associates to look for interest in the nursing
position.
• Report by Barbara Meade on BOS inquiry regarding ETS in 2 town private clubs. The
BOS was looking to change BOH regulations. The Tobacco Control Coordinator from
the Health Communities Coalition came to BOS meeting and discussed new state
regulations of Smoke Free Workplace. The results were no change in regulation. The
responsibly of the BOH will increase education and offer a health behaviors survey to
the two private clubs. Barbara Meade will talk with Cambridge BOH regarding surveys
they have completed on respiratory and cardiac health. Update on this issue at April
BOH meeting.
• Bio Terrorism Coalition update on progress of Emergency Dispensing sites and 72 hour
treatment of full town population following infectious disease outbreak. Plan must be
filed with DPH by June 30, 2005
• Change in BOH fee schedule was discussed and a number of fees will be changes.
Attached proposed changes. Public hearing will be held in April. All businesses that
are effected by the changes will be notified before Public Hearing
• Bagel World - manager Ed Kantosowski did not pass food preparation certification
class score 68% and passing 75% due to particular situation the BOH voted to issue a
variance according to Federal Food Code. 2:0:0.
• Storm water Regulations were tabled.
