MA Board of Health Meeting Minutes 1001 FED I U A January 11, 2007 The Board of Health meeting was called to order on January 11, 2007 by Chairmen Barbara Meade at 6:02 pm at the Town Hall, Berger Room. Those present at the meeting were Colleen Seferian and staff liaison Jane Fiore. David Singer was excused. Business: • Minutes of November 16, 2006 were accepted as read 2:0:0. Minutes of Decemberl4, 2006 accepted as read 2:0:0. Next order of Business • Companion kennel inspection standards tabled 2:0:0. It was noted the BOH signed letter explaining the BOH inspectional process was sent to all companion kennel owners 4 -10 dogs. • Thordori Londi, owner of the future Londi's Roast Beef and Pizza located at 214 Main Street, reading, MA O1867 requested of the Board of Health a waiver to install one unisex handicapped bathroom in the new restaurant 1220sf. The waive letter is requested by the Massachusetts plumbing Board of Inspectors. The waiver is needed by the BOH on any food establishment of over 1200sq. The plumbing code requires 2 handicap bathrooms at 1200sf. Mr. Londi was clear with the BOH the shop will predominately sell take out foods with the maximum of 20 seats. The request for this waiver will begin the process for the food service establishment to obtain a building permit to complete a restaurant fit up at 214 Main Street. Barbara Meade moved to grant such a waiver request. Colleen Seferian seconded the motion and the waiver was granted 2:0:0. The BOH signed a copy of the written waiver for Mr. Londi to file with the State Plumbing Board. Reports • All reports, RCASA, Logan Fly Over, Emergency Response Coalition, and construction update were tabled until the February meeting • Webpage presentation by contractor of webpage will be made to the board at the February meeting. Variance Request Hearing by Venetian Moon Restaurant The hearing began with request for information from the BOH chairman Barbara Meade. Joshua Latham presented the request including the major issue regarding land ownership which prevents the installation of an external grease trap. Discussion followed regarding the submitted calculations for the internal grease interceptor. The Board reviewed the division calculations and continued discussion. The Colleen Seferian made a motion to grant the variance from external to internal grease installation at 680 Main Street. Vote 2:0:0. The discussion continued regarding the installation of 2 interceptors and increased maintenance of the traps. Final decision - It was voted to permit 2 internal interceptors • 1 140 pound trap to be installed under the 3 bay sink - on the Woburn St sewer line • The second trap to be 40 lb capacity under the food prep sink also in the main food preparation kitchen on the Woburn St sewer line connection. • Both traps shall be cleaned bimonthly and the reports sent to the BOH office. • The BOH office shall also receive a copy of the annual maintenance contract. The administrator will forward the decision to both the owner, Cavallo and the owner's legal representative, Joshua Latham, Esq. There was continued workshop discussion with the restaurant regarding the construction schedule.
