MINUTES OWN CLERK
May 6, 2008 RE a211NG, MASS.
The Board of Health meeting was called to order on May 6, 2008 at 00n ~O A 10 2 2
Chairman Barbara Meade at the Berger Room, Town Hall. Those present at the meeting
were Barbara Meade Chair, and Colleen Seferian. Dr. David Singer excused.
In attendance: Ali Akbar, Anthony Seacatore, ; Frank Seacatore, Margret Secatore,
Michael DeMild, Luke Beaulieu, Margret Beaulieu, and Larry Ramdin, Staff Liaison/
Health Services Administrator.
OLD BUSINESS
Minutes of April 15, 2008 were read and approved 2:0:0
License Approvals
Gulf Express 85 Main Street
Gulf Express, 85 Main Street, Ali Akbar owner. Ownership changed without advising the
BOH, since licenses are not transferable, the business was ordered to cease sales of Food
and Tobacco, until license is granted. Mr. Akbar has met the requirements and the Health
Division recommended granting the license application. There are two (2) outstanding
issues:
1. A pipe is draining into the 3 bay sink from the ceiling and
2. There is no hand washing sink in the ware-washing area.
The application was approved 2:0:0 and a 30 day condition for correcting the outstanding
violations was imposed, failure to comply with the order will result in suspension of the
permit to sell food.
Londi's Roast Beef
Anthony Seacatore applied for a new permit for Londi's Roast Beef. Mr. Seacatore, is
purchasing Londi's Roast Beef, his sister is signed up for a Certified Food Manager
permit. There will be no equipment or menu changes. at the establishment.
The. Board approved the application pending final review and approval by the Health
Division.
Visit by Scouts
Luke Beaulieu and Mike Demild, Scouts working on communications merit badges
were in attendance. They chose the Board of Health meeting because it was at a
convenient time. The scouts asked questions on the role of the Board and the Health
Division, and observed the meeting. They expressed their thanks to the Board.
Administrative report
The Health Administrator his report to the Board .The report was accepted.
New Business
FDA Voluntary Standards Program.
Ray Duffill, Regional Retail Food Safety Specialist of the FDA has requested that the
Health Administrator to enroll the Health Division in the Voluntary Food Program
Standards Program. The program would standardize the way we do our inspections. It
also sets performance standards for the Department's Food Safety Program. The Health
Administrator that he would review the program and most likely enroll in the FY 2009.
Emergency Preparedness Training.
The Health Administrator attended Pandemic Influenza Preparedness training and
Weapons of Mass Destruction training, at the Center for Domestic Preparedness, in
Anniston, Alabama. There was a recommendation for the Board of Health Chair to attend
courses at the Center on Pandemic Influenza training. Also, Leslie Carabello , Public
Health Nurse will be attending the training at the end of May.
The Town's Emergency Dispensing site plan is being audited by the Department of
Public Health. The Audit will establish the state of readiness and identify areas, in which
the town can improve its current plan. The intent of the audit in not to find fault, but
identify areas in which we can improve our plans.
There being no other business Colleen Seferian made a motion to adjourn seconded by
Barbara Meade with a 2:0:0 vote. Meeting adjourned 8:25 pm
