Review of November 1, 2006 meeting MINUTES
• On a motion by Young-Tafoya, seconded by Russell, the MINUTES of 11.01.06 were approved 3-0-1.
Agenda Review
• EDC brainstormed about creating a "Available Property Listing" spreadsheet to include property address, owner,
sq. footage, background information, current status, and division of town. Peter Hechenbleikner will create
original draft, EDC will maintain with updates, and Sheila Clarke will distribute monthly with meeting notes.
• Peter Hechenbleikner found a factual pamphlet on Reading from 1994. EDC discussed creating something
similar for short term use, but then decided to hold off until a formal marketing piece can be created. EDC will
discuss topics to include in a marketing piece during the 1.03.07 meeting.
• EDC discussed creating a generic presentation that would outline the committees' purpose and goals based on
Graham Russells outline to the Board of Selectman. Peter Hechenbleikner will email the town power point
template and Graham Russell will forward text to Sheila Clarke to create a draft.
• EDC would like to meet with the Executive Board of the Chamber of Commerce to introduce itself and form a
partnership. Peter Hechenbleikner will contact Board to schedule the committee on the agenda.
Jack Russell proposed and created a draft of a workshop mailer for existing businesses. The committee decided to
place it on hold until they have met with the Executive Board of the Chamber of Commerce.
• EDC should watch for a North West weekly piece on Reading in the Boston Globe.
• EDC members should attend the CPDC Zoning Workshop scheduled for 12.11.06 at 5:00 p.m. in the BOS room.
The 16 Sanborn street property is on the agenda.
• Peter Hechenbleikner will schedule a meeting with Robert Palmer, owner of the Tanner Tavern in Woburn. Mr.
Palmer has expressed interest in expanding to Reading. The restaurant would require 5,000-6,000 sq. feet.
• The Cultural Connection Organization is looking for a performance center location within Reading. Peter
Hechenbleikner will schedule them to attend the 1.03.06 EDC meeting if possible.
• Peter Hechenbleikner and Russell Graham are scheduled to meet with Mawn and Mawn on 12.12.06 to discuss
property usage and parking.
• Russell Graham will contact Tambone family regarding the EDC and a possible meeting.
Meeting Schedule
• Next regularly scheduled meeting will be Wednesday, January 3, 2007, in the Arnold Berger Room, Town Hall,
16 Lowell Street, Reading, Massachusetts beginning at 7:30 P.M.
On a motion by Young-Tafoya, seconded by Russell, the committee voted to adjourn at 9:30 P.M. on a unanimous
vote.
Respectfully submitted,
Sheila Clarke
