Economic Development Committee (EDC)
July 25, 2007
Attendance: Leslie McGonagle, Jack Russell, Russell Graham, Carol Kowalski, Michele Williams, and Sheila
Clarke
Review of 07.11.07 meeting MINUTES
• On a motion by McGonagle, seconded by Clarke, the MINUTES OF 07.11.07 were approved
unanimously.
Agenda Review
Review of Survey
• Reading Light has volunteered to send Business survey out with September Commercial Electric bills.
All surveys will be returned back to EDC c/o Michele Williams - return by 9/30.
• Tentative date for local Business Meeting with EDC is October 17t` at 7:30 am Russell Graham will
touch base with Peter regarding availability of the Senior Center.
EDC Meeting Dates
• Time will be 7:30 pm unless otherwise noted. Confirmed dates 8/8, 8/22 @ 7:00 pm, 9/5, 9/26, 10/10,
11/14, 12/12 @ Senior Center.
Finepoint Associates
• EDC should consider match service between property owners and new business
• EDC to identify types of businesses we would like to "invite" into town based on "need".
• Garden Club - contact regarding Landscaping architect and plan for downtown
• Leslie to contact via Chamber of Commerce - Streetscape Designer
Other Business
• The update on the Cultural Connection is that they are pursuing idea of the land across from the high
school
• Downtown Steering Committee luncheon 8/22 Town Hall Conference Room at 12:00 p.m.
• Commercial Real Estate Agent Jeremy Cyrier - Michele will invite for 8/22 at 7:00 and Leslie will
invite Jamie Lynch
• Update on Tax Classification - Leslie brought the EDC motion to the Ad Hoc Committee they feel as if
the committee voted prematurely. The next scheduled meeting is Monday.
• Addison Wesley - National Development presented on 7/24 16 Town, 140 Senior, 199 Apartments,
160,000 office space. This will satisfy our affordable housing goal. 40R project therefore the town will
have design control of the project..
• Business Cards - Michele to follow to up with Carol
Meeting Schedule
o Next regularly scheduled meeting 8/8 at the Reading Senior Center at 7:30 p.m.
On a motion by McGonagle, seconded by Russell, the committee voted to adjourn at 9:45 p.m. on a
unanimous vote.
