Economic Development Committee (EDC)
October 26, 2007

Reading Senior Center, Reading, Massachusetts beginning at 7:30 P.M.
Guests
George Reo observed the meeting as a follow-up to the EDC Business Breakfast.
• EDC would like to schedule Julie Thurlow, Reading Co-Op for December 12th meeting and Farmer's Market contacts
possibly for January.
Agenda Review
• Breakfast Breakfast Recap
o Overall committee believes the meeting was a success. Sheila Clarke to work with Carol Kowalski to create
follow-up email to local businesses that attended. Michele Williams will send Sheila Clarke all existing lists to
create a master database of both business and building owners. Sheila Clarke will partner with Carol Kowalski
regarding existing downtown database.
o EDC will schedule next Business Meeting for March.
• 2008 Budget
o Committee agreed to submit expenses for a marketing brochure and two business breakfasts. Committee will
work with local newspapers for Public Relations.
World Cafe
o Russell Graham, Leslie McGonagle, and Sheila Clarke attended. The next scheduled meeting is February 8th.
+ Website
o Sheila Clarke to contact Reading Co-op Bank, Good Hearts, Hitching Post, Simms Jewelry, Venetian Moon, and
The Wine Shop regarding quotes and logos. Sheila will forward to Assistant Town Manager when available.
o Architect Resources
o Rick Radville, Mike Slezak, and Tim Toomey, Reading residents, are scheduled to meet with the committee on
11/14 to discuss building facades and downtown improvements.
o CVS Pathway
o Michele Williams will contact the Town Manager regarding any existing plans for the site. The EDC would like to
get feedback from the visiting architects regarding the possibility of a contest.
o Other Business
o Tax Classification. Hearing with BOS scheduled for November 20th
Meeting Schedule
o Next regularly scheduled meeting will be Wednesday, November 14, 2007, at the Reading Senior Center, Reading,
Massachusetts beginning at 7:30 P.M.
On a motion by McGonagle, seconded by Younq-Tafoya, the committee voted to adjourn at 9:15 P.M. on a unanimous
vote.
