MINUTES
February 22, 1989
Members Present: Adrienne Caselle, Fran Brown, Beverly Cook,
Sally McDonald.
Minutes of the January 11, 1989 meeting were approved as read,
Treasurer's report was approved as follows:

Motion was carried to accepted Treasurer's and Secretary's
reports as read.
-Correspondence:
1. Letter from Sally Murphy - Welcome Wagon. Enclosed lists of
new people to submit to the Arts Groups.
2. Correspondence from BSO for membership Mass Arts Advocacy
Committee.
3. Letter - Friends of Library - Announcing concert series at
Library. Notification of piano key placard.
4. Letter Museum Fine Arts - Soliciting groups to become
members.

5. Jack Turner's report to Cherry Dubois on Arts Group Meeting
January 11.
New Business - Outstanding Grants:
1. Application #01724 - July, 1987 - Journey through History -
Photo collage at high school (Robert Swanson). Request for
an extension has been denied because of the time lapse and
the lack of a definite plan. He may apply without
prejudice.
2. RMHS - Taming of the Shrew - $245. - July 1988. Funds have
been retuned to "Funds Available."
Payment Requests: Motion made, seconded and passed
1. Application No. 22570 Friends of Library - Additional $200.
leaving balance of $225.00.
2. Application No 05198 Creative Arts - Full amount $800.
3. Application No. 10624 Reading Public Schools - John
Heatfields Works. $194.78 - remainder of $5.42 put into
"Funds Available."
4. Application No. 18666 - Reading Antiquarian - $900. -
Restoration of oil portraits. -
5. Application No. 00917 - Gretchen McBride - $489.70 - Vocal
Program.
Old Business:
General discussion of our January meeting and its success. Sally
McDonald will ask the library to present to its board of
trustees, acceptance for a bulletin board in the library foyer
which will be sponsored by the arts council and contain the
current "arts" events.
Fran Brown will conclude her very successful chairmanship of the
January meeting with a follow up report to the Board of
Selectman.
Sally McDonald, Diane Slezak, Lorraine McCarthy and Adrienne
Caselle attended workshop sponsored by the Arts Lottery Council.
The main purpose was to promote interest in the advocacy group
for retention of the Council on Arts & Humanities in Mass.
