HomeMy WebLinkAbout1993-09-01 Arts Council MinutesU/ Reading Arts Council Minutes September 1, 1993 Members present: Alice Collins, Bev McAleer, David Mitchell, Ron Morse and Diane Slezak. Minutes from the June 22, 1993 were approved. Treasurer's report was accepted as submitted. Grant Cycle information: We agreed to continue using appointments for our interviews. We need help setting these up and also xeroxing the multitude of paperwork. Alice has publicity which is ready to go out to the newspapers this week. Selectman George Hines requested a statement. of goals from the Arts Council which Alice wrote up and we all approved. Alice will contact Bruce Moorang to see when he might be publishing the "Arts in Reading" information which he agreed to at the Community Input Meeting. MaryElien will be contacted to find out the status of the revision of the "Guide." Local news: Jack Cairl is the head of the new Association for the Fine and Performing Arts of Reading. Currently, there is hope that there might be money held in escrow from the developer interested in the Pearl Street School building to put towards an art center (at another location). On September 11 there will be a "Celebration of the Arts and Artists of Reading," at the Unitarian Church on Woburn Street, organized by Jack's group, There is a town volunteer training session September 23, from 7:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. MCC update: Reading is at the same funding level. There is a new PASS directory with interpretive sciences included. A new handbook will be out later in September. One revision in the guidelines is that individuals may not apply except through are organization. Farewell party targeted for September 26, 4-7 p.m. at Alice's home. Next meeting September 28, 7:30 p.m. RPL conference room.
