A workshop held at an MCOA meeting regarding Americans Disability Act and behavior
standards at Senior Centers promoted a discussion regarding what needs to be in place at
our Center. Standards of behavior need to be posted so it will be known what is expected
of all attendees. Materials from other Centers were reviewed. Gay Williams moved and
seconded by Joanne Wooldridge the following motion: While at the Senior Center we
require respect and civil behavior from all. Dress will be appropriate and acceptable for
public meeting places. The Elder Services staff will administer the motion. 8-0-0
The issue of parking at the Center and the parking lot behind the Center were discussed at
length. There are instances where people are not coming to activities because it is
difficult to find parking. It was decided to make placards for people to put on their
dashboard that indicates they are participating in Center activities. The placard will not
excuse them from any parking regulations.
The Neighborhood Computer Program at Peter Sanborn Place was presented. This will be
open to seniors in the community as soon as volunteers are trained to staff the computer
room.
