A discussion of the Property Tax Program reviewed the original concept of involving as
many eligible participants as possible which may be in contradiction to the desire of some
supervisors who want "their workers" assigned to them in succeeding years. The program
will be reviewed at the close of the fiscal year.
The administrator's report was accepted on a motion by Gay Williams and seconded by
Gladys Cail. 10-0-0
Dottye Foxon asked for clarification about the SPICE meeting held with RPD. She thinks
the work of the committee should continue because past efforts were positive.
The Burbank policy received extensive discussion with revisions and refinement of the
language. Dave Brigham moved and Dottye Foxon seconded a motion to accept the
Burbank policy draft as it currently stands subject to legal review. 10-0-0
Mary Andreola talked of the concern that all senior citizens be lumped into one category
as compared with distinct needs and levels of activity. We must continually be alert to
the diversity represented in the senior population.
Fix-It Shop program was discussed. There is a need for additional volunteers. Gay
Williams submitted a possible candidate.
Material on the Home Minor Repair Program was reviewed. The financial guidelines will
be adjusted to enable more people to participate in the subsidized program. EOEA grant
review committee may suggest changes.
Parking at the Center was reviewed. A dashboard placard will be distributed to drivers
indicating where Senior Center attendees are parking.
Silver Haired Legislative elections will be held June 16. Mary Andreola will staff the
ballot box. Walt Redding and Sally Hoyt are the known candidates for the Senate and
House.
Plans were reviewed for the COA participation in the Strawberry Festival held during
Summerfest. We receive "seed" money from the Summerfest Committee and return
profits to that Committee. This is our contribution back to the community.
The Senior Expo will be in Woburn on June 17 and will feature vendors, workshops and
speakers.
