Pamela asked for volunteers to deliver the holiday meals. Cost is about $300 paid for
with the Elder Services Donation Account. Last year 30 people received meals. Dick
volunteered to deliver Christmas, Dottye will deliver both, Edwina - Thanksgiving,
Carol will do both and Kristin will do Thanksgiving.
Pamela attended a Patron for Older Adults meeting and asked for the use of their non-
profit status, 501C3, to apply for a grant for a new handicapped van. They declined.
Dick asked how many people use "The Ride" - discussed purchasing handicapped van
- talked of MVES grants. Formed sub-committee to check into getting a handicapped
van on a grant. Dick, John and Pamela will be on the committee.
Pamela went to Salem State about doing a follow-up on the Needs Assessment
Survey. She has not heard from them yet. She will pursue it.
Want to include results of survey in the November newsletter.
Longwood Place would like its residents to be able to use our Volunteer Medical
Escort service. Their van has limited service for medical appointments. Assisted
Living facilities are included in the Landlord/Tenant Law. We have only 7 medical
escort volunteers and in September we served 6 clients for 12 appointments.
We voted to approve Elder Services providing Volunteer Medical Escorts for residents
of Longwood Place for a trial period of three months. Will be reviewed in February
2004. Motion by Dottye, seconded by Edwina. Vote-unammous
Ruth brought up subject of the railing.
Pamela explained about the Hospital Trust Fund to Carol. Reading Response is now
managed by an outside organization.
Meeting adjourned at 7:55 pm
Next meeting January 12, 2004.
Respectfully submitted,
Barbara Powers
