Present: Dick Anderson, Betty Cronin, Dottye Foxon, Ruth Goldberg, Edwina Kasper,
Kristin Loring Kinsella, Carol Patterson, Barbara Powers and Richard Cardillo

Betty Cronin called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m.
• The minutes of the February meeting were approved - motion to accept
By Dick Anderson, seconded by Carol and carried.
• Approved payment of entertainment bills from the Burbank Fund-motion
to accept Dick, seconded by Dottye.
• Richard presented the Administrator's Report - implementing Procedures
Book for employees detailing the tasks each perform.
• Discussed ways the Schroeder Fund can be utilized to best help
Homebound elders.- Have Marie seek out the homebound who would
benefit from a visit or some other service they need or would enjoy. Pay a
Friendly Visitor to work a couple of days a month.
• Discussed the Bingo Board that will be a big help to the hard-of-hearing
bingo players. Motion made to spend $5,650 from the Burbank Fund to
pay for the Bingo Board installed, by Dick, seconded by Dottye.
• Richard explained about the donated van from 128 Ford which will need
to be retro-fitted for our needs- will be getting bids from two companies -
one in N.H. and one in Billerica - Total cost of retro-fitting will be about
$9,000 - new seats - $3000 - non-skid flooring - $1500 - Camper top -
$3500 and paint - $1000. - This is a 12-passenger van - no handicap lift
The Hospital Trust and the MBTA Ride will take care of that need.
Motion made to spend up to $9000 from the Burbank Trust by Dottye,
seconded by Dick.
• Richard talked to the Office of Transportation concerning the application
for a Van. They are now on Round 29 - we are in round 30 which will be
at least another year or two away just to obtain the application.
• The new railing should be installed by the end of April
• Interior doors going in Wednesday, April 14. Dottye suggested putting up
a plaque - donated by Mr. & Mrs. Dube.
• The Maintenance Department is working on fixing the exterior doors - the
Historical Society has said we cannot use steel doors - Maintenance will
also fix the gutter over the doors which is causing the problem.
• Ruth suggested that the indoor stairs be covered with non-skid material for
safety.
• Someone complained the sound system was not working - probably not
using it correctly- will post directions for use.
• The Tax Rebate Program funding can be raised from $500 to $750.
• Richard explained the new Choice Menu that MVES is implementing
soon..
• Dick discussed MVES finances. They are level-funded again this year,
but have raised over $400,000.00 thanks to the fundraiser they hired.
• He also talked about how confusing the new Medicare Drug Program is
and the need to have someone explain it to seniors.
Next meeting Monday, May 10, 2004 at 6:30 pm.
