Senior Center.
Monday, April 11, 2005
Betty Cronin opened the meeting at 6:35. Present were: Betty Cronin, Carol
Patterson, Dick Anderson, Carol Scrima, "Sally Hoyt, Edwina Kasper, Ruth
Goldberg and Dawn Folopoulos, Administrator. Absent were Dottye Foxon,
Barbara Powers, and Kristin Kinsella.
Motion to accept minutes approved.
Dawn reported her recent activities as administrator (one week). She attended
"COA 101" workshop in Peabody. She also was able to attend the organ
musietpizza party on April 4th (attendance - 22) and the birthday lunch on April
11 (attendance - 13).
Upcoming programs include Richard's "Goodbye Party) on April 14"'; Investment
information on May 3`d; Mother's Day luncheon on May 5t'; Recognition of
Volunteers dinner on May 11th.
Formula Grant funds were transferred to Volunteer Coordinator's salary.
Sally Hoyt gave a report on her attendance at the Hospital Trust meeting. There
is an on-going discussion as to how to use hospital trust funds.
A'discussion was held regarding the upcoming Town meeting on April 25~' and,
in particular, the Community Parish Nursing's request for $100,000 in order to
hire nurses. Concern was voiced about Elder Services' budget being "tapped".
The Council is looking forward to discussion with Peter Hechenbleikner at the
May 9t' COA meeting regarding the consultant's report.
Under new business, the list of cleaning duties, which was provided to the
Maintenance Department, was discussed.
Concerns were repeated about the parking availability for the.. Center when the
Reading Housing Authority builds their new units. There is not enough parking
at the present time when there is a major function going on.
The meeting adjourned at 7:40.
Next meeting May 9th.
