Z8 A Betty Cronin opened the meeting at 6:35. Present were: Betty Cronin, Carol Patterson, Dick Anderson, Sally Hoyt, Edwina Kasper, Ruth Goldberg, Dottye Foxon, Barbara Powers, Kristin Kinsella and Dawn Folopoulos, Administrator. Also present was Pat Boyd, the van driver. Absent, Carole Scrima. Motion to accept May minutes by Dottye, 2nd by Carol. Administrator's Report: Dawn will be discussing the implementation of the Consultant's report at the September 12 meeting. Motion made to continue funding the Property Tax Program for FY-2006 for $15,750.00 through the Burbank Trust, by Carol, 2nd Kristin - Sally feels the town should begin funding this program again - the COA has been doing it for four years when the town budget was strained - Betty will write a letter to Peter asking the town to fund the Property Tax Program for FY2007. Carried unanimously. Dawn asked for $30.00/month more from the Burbank Fund to increase the number of printed copies of Pleasantries by 150 /month. Total monthly printing will be 650 copies. Motion made by Dick, 2nd by Ruth. In FY06, Pleasantries will cost a total of $3360/year - Motion made by Dottye, 2nd Edwina - passed unanimously. Dawn asked that the current Burbank donation amount of $1000/year for Senior Center - ' entertainment, free birthday lunch, birthday cake and birthday certificates, be increased to $1500/year. - Motion made by Carol, 2nd Kristin- passed unanimously. The Board approved buying a page in the fall/winter issue of the Reading Recreation Guide describing the function of Elder Services. The cost is $150. Dawn showed a sample of it. New Program - Once a month the van takes seniors to breakfast locally. Next month they go to Hillview Country Club in No. Reading. Discussed new van we will be getting through a grant from the state. It will be a 14 passenger, plus driver. Dawn will read the guidelines to find out more about it, whether it is handicapped assessible, who is eligible to ride and to what locations, etc. Financial Report accepted - no questions, As requested by the COA, Dawn provided a list of Elder Service budgets and populations from other towns and cities. On June 25 from 10 - 4 there will be a Friends and Family Day in Reading. Lowell St. in front of Town Hall will be blocked off. The COA table will give out bottled water donated by Monadanock Springs. Betty requested and received volunteers from the COA to help. Peter asked for a recommendation of a COA member to serve on the Ad Hoc Task Force to evaluate the need for a Nurse Advocacy Program for frail elders. Carol Patterson for the COA and Gladys Cail as the "frail elder" were mentioned as possible candidates. Both Ruth and Edwina agreed to serve on the COA for another term. Betty present gift to Kristin, who is not returning for a 2nd term.
