HomeMy WebLinkAbout2006-02-13 Council on Aging Minutes_ Council on Aging Board Meeting f Monday, February 13, 2006 a U Reading Senior Center ; t f` 6 Arts and Crafts Room Present were: Betty Cronin, Stacey Bertocchi, Sally Hoyt, Carol Patterson, Edwina Kasper, and Dawn Folopoulos. Also present Marguerite Bosnian, Associate Member. Dick Anderson opened the meeting at 6:45 pm. January minutes accepted.. Motion by Betty, 2nd by Carol. Administrator's Report: accepted Dawn announced that Reading Council on Aging will receive a $25,200.00 grant this year. An attendance sheet was passed around if you know in advance that you cannot make future meetings it will be recorded. Investment of the trust funds Guest Speakers: Gail LaPointe, Town Accountant and Beth Kliepis, Commissioner of Trusts How the budget reports read Guest Speaker: Nancy Heffernan, Town Treasurer/Collector Financial Report accepted. Burbank Fund • There was a vote to approve $150 advertising expense in the Recreation Department's Community Guide. Motion made by Sally 2nd by Carol. • Motion was made to accept the expenditure for the welcome package (binders and dividers) by Betty, 2nd by Edwina. New Business The Junior Woman's League is disbanding and they usually host the annual Volunteer Appreciation Reception. Dawn is seeking a new sponsor for this event. She has an appointment to meet with the Fire Chief this coming week. The v reception has expanded and may include as many as 125 people this coming year. The can not hold that many people so Dawn asked for ideas of new organizations that might be willing to volunteer to host this both financially and also to work the reception. Some thoughts, College Club, Newcomer's Club, American Legion, Masonic Hall, and Knights of Columbus. A special "thank you" to Ruth Goldberg for all her work on the bulletin board, photo albums, and good care of the plants. Motion to adjourn at 8:49 pm by Betty, 2 d by Carol.
