COA members volunteered to man the division's table. Question on the time of the event because it is different than last year. Dawn will check but she had a memo that said 124pm. Discussion of giveaways: gift bags containing pencils, File of Life, current Pleasantries Newsletter and Marie Ammer's (social worker) business card. Further discussion of items to have at the table (i.e.a sign or hard candy). Ideas on what the sign might say to attract not just Seniors to the COA table (i.e. "Help Someone YOU Love?") There will be no raffle basket at the COA table this year. Dawn reminded those who have not yet returned their volunteer applications to complete them. Update: Room darkening shades have been installed. New Business At Town Meeting beginning April 23, warrant article 8 is about the possibility of moving the funding for the Property Tax Work program for FY08 from the Elder/Human Service budget to the. Overlay Account. The request in article 8 is for the full amount of $15,750. COA toured the new van. New name for the division and the senior center: We have a goal of mid-may to decided upon a new name for the "Elder/Human Services" Division. When a name is selected it will be printed on the van. Some popular names among COA members are 1. Intergenerational Services, 2. Lifecare Services, 3. Life Concern Services. The Senior Center, by unanimous vote of the COA will probably be renamed "The Pleasant Street Center." Stacey suggested that volunteers from Parker Middle School help with spring clean-up for seniors and disabled residents. Stacey and Dawn would work together to coordinate this event. If we decide to pursue this project, the goal would be to have something in place for next Spring. Kudos to Dawn who has volunteered to a do a community clean-up day along with other Town employees to show the spirit of "volunteerism" for the Town of Reading. Motion to Adjourn 8:00 Next month's meeting will be held on Monday, May 14, 2007. Respectfully submitted, Stacey Bertocchi
