Minutes approved and accepted for February 11, 2008. Administrator's Report approved and accepted. Dawn and the Social Worker are examining the impact new housing developments may have on Elder/Human Services Department in Reading. When people move into an affordable housing unit, they often need to re-establish social service benefits they were receiving in their previous home town. This can create a higher demand for social services from Reading staff. Dawn described working with the police and post office to provide resources for a local homeless woman who had become a danger to local residents. Financial Report approved and accepted. We reviewed the expenditures and commitments for the Burbank Trust Funds for FY08. The Administrator presented 3 memorandums to the COA requesting the expenditure of Burbank Trust Funds. 1. Dated March 3, 2008- Requesting funding in the amount of $1,505.00 for 2 picnic tables for the outdoor patio. They are recycled plastic hexagonal picnic tables. One cost $620.00 and the second table is $580.00 for a handicap accessible version. Carol made a motion that total expenses of $1,505.00 be deducted from the Burbank Trust for two picnic tables and Steve 2nd. All voted in favor of the expenditure. 2. Dated March 10, 2008- Requesting funding in the amount of $50.00 to rent an antique popcorn maker for the June 19d' "Cruisin" afternoon event. Carol made a motion to grant the funding from the Burbank Trust of $50.00 to rent an antique popcorn maker and Sally 2" d. 3. Dated March 10, 2008- Requesting funding in the amount of $94.65 for 30 bingo cards for the Senior Center. Margaret made a motion that the total expense of $94.65 for bingo cards be deducted from the Burbank Trust and Steve 2nd Old Business Name tags given out. Charlie still needs a nametag. Announcement - Brad Jones and his wife will sponsor a Fall time dinner this year. Steve gave an update on the discount booklet. Dawn will contact Bill or Kevin from MIS to get a list of businesses in town. Dawn emphasized the book needs a disclaimer. New Business Reading @ Large - Dawn will be on Reading Cable T.V. Thursday 3/13/08 with Dan O'Leary from MVES. ■ Friends and Family Day -What can we do to draw people to our booth? Think about it and share some great ideas at the next meeting. Any themes ideas, maybe popcorn machine or bubbles. Dawn will check with the health department. ■ Update on Presenters Policy Committee- there are 4 COA members on the committee. ■ We shared copies of letters from Sally Hoyt to the Boston Globe about the proposed retesting of older drivers.
