Minutes approved and accepted for March 10, 2008.
Administrator's Report approved and accepted.
e3 The volunteer recognition reception was well attended. The Burbank Trust funded the
entertainment.
C!3 Steve commented on the administrator's report. He has notice the number of meals
served is continuing to increase. Dawn noted that the numbers tend to fluctuate and a
decrease of 5-6 people over a month is not a need for concern. Also Sharon has been
doing some creative programming at lunch time like "lunch and trivia? and "Are you
smarter than a 5t' grader?" She has also invited RMLD will come out at lunchtime and
give out free light bulbs and provide energy saving information.
Financial Report approved and accepted.
Dawn presented a memo to the COA requesting the Burbank Trust help partial fund an audio
system for the Senior Center in the amount $2,638.76. The total cost of the new system is
$4,904.00. The balance of $2,597.82 will be funded from the State Formula Grant. After
discussion of various estimates Dawn received and a breakdown of cost Ruth made a motion that
COA grant partial fund the system from the Burbank Trust in the amount of $2,638.76. Margaret
2'd the motion.
Old Business
Dawn gave an update about the Presenter's Policy Committee. The committee decided it would
optimal to have a non-profit organization do presentation. Dawn presented a sample of the form
presenters will have to sign in agreement with the terms stated. As of June 1, 2008 the senior
center will not have any preseatnions by for-profits agencies regarding real estate, legal or
financial services. Steve requested that we revisit this in a year from now to evaluate how this
has affected the senior center's ability to provide diversified programming.
Friends and Family Day - we still need one volunteer for the afternoon.
Update - Discount booklet. Dawn gave Steve the list of businesses from the IT dept. he
requested. They will work together on who will get the responses back from these businesses.
The popcorn machine is easier to rent than buy and the massive size to store the unit makes
borrowing/renting the best choice for "Cruise Night".
Dawn and Diane, the Nurse Advocate, provided a presentation for the Board of Selectman and
did a great job. The Board was very supportive.
New Business
The next steps for the Emergency Preparedness Access database is to have the professor
complete his edits and then have volunteers begin to enter data. Salem State College Students set
up the database as a project.
In the fall, Elder services will collaborate with the Public Health Depart to provide workshops
about Emergency Preparedness for the seniors
Motion to Adjourn 7:35 pm
Respectfully submitted,
Stacey Bertocchi
