Reading Conservation Commission Meeting
Selectmen's Meeting Room, 7:00 PM

Public Hearing, Notice of Intent, Max Gabriello, 285 Main Street, DEP 270-564, RGB 2009-28
This hearing was postponed to June 2, 2010, at the request of the applicant.
Public Meeting, Request for Determination of Applicability, Pradeep Selvakumar, 194 Van
Norden Road, RGB 2010-6
This hearing was postponed to June 2, 2010, due to the absence of a voting quorum. Mr. Hecht and
Mr. Sullivan had recused themselves.
Old/New Business
Maplewood Condominium, 243-261 Salem Street
The easement has gone to Town Counsel and Brad Latham for review.
10 Cory Lane
Ms. Fink made the revisions that DCS wanted in the Conservation Restriction and sent it to the
owners for review.
285 Main Street, DEP 270-540, RGB 2008-34
Ms. Fink has contacted GEoInsight and aksed for plans to remove the tanks. There has not yet been
a reply.
1364 Main Street, DEP 270-387, RGB 2003-4.
The Commission reviewed the site plan revision for a drainage forebay at the western end of the
parking lot. Ms. Fink reported that George Zambouras, Town Engineer, had reviewed the plan and
the calculations, and found them acceptable. The earth berms will need to connect to the curbing
and a stone edge should be provided between the forebay and parking lot. .
Motion made by Mr. Sullivan to approve the site plan revisions with the provisions discussed. Mr.
Tucker seconded. Vote was 5-0-0.
26 Sunset Rock, DEP 270-483, RGB 2006-27
The Commission reviewed the status of work. They will inspect before the next meeting on June 2,
2010.
Meadow Brook Golf Club DEP 270-472, RGB 2006-8
Ms. Fink reported a site visit with the wetlands consultant at the vernal pool near Susan Drive.
They saw one adult wood frog, spring peeper tadpoles, dragonfly larvae, and many ostracods. They
did not see any fairy shrimp. Another site visit will be done in June when the water has receded to
see whether additional species are present.

The MBGC manager, Bob Morelli, also told Ms. Fink was that they have not yet moved the
electric service and demolished the pump house near fairway 48. The new irrigation pond seems to
be working. Ms. Fink will return in a few weeks.
717 Pearl Street - Violation
Ms. Fink reported a site visit with Mr. Howse. Landscaping work has gone into the buffer zone.
He has not graded or put in top soil yet. He must also pull back the soil from the roots of the trees.
The front yard has all bare dirt with a catch basin at the end of the driveway. A silt fence has been
installed. He gave Ms. Fink a sketch of the planned landscaping, and the Commission reviewed it,
along with a draft enforcement order.
Motion made by Ms. Ohlson to issue the enforcement order as drafted. Mr. Sullivan seconded.
Vote was 5-0-0.
28 Summer Avenue, DEP 270-454, RGB 2005-27
Ms. Fink said the owner has planted some shrubs below the stone wall and moved the ZNV bound
to the proper location.
Motion made by Mr. Tucker to issue the Certificate of Compliance. Ms. Scanlon seconded. Vote
was 5-0-0.
Reading Memorial High School
The Commission did a site visit and the Riverfront Area has been planted and hydro-seeded. There
are lots of trees and bushes, perhaps more than on the plan. There are no tire tracks so no one is
driving in there.
Kylie Drive
The Commission reviewed photos of the roof drain installation on Lots 5 and 6, and retaining wall
specifications for Lot 5 from Hayes Engineering. Comments from George Zambouras about the
retaining wall will be forwarded to the developer and owner.
Brian Tucker left the meeting.
Minor Projects:
65 Lilah (deck and shed)
Mr. Hecht said the shed is in the zone of natural vegetation but there is not really any other place to
put it. It is on blocks and it should not become a permanent structure. There should.not be any oil,
gas, pesticides, or hazardous materials placed in the shed.
Motion made by Mr. Sullivan to permit the shed where it is, with the provisions recommended by
Mr. Hecht. Mr. Green seconded. Vote was 4-0-0.
40 Sunset Rock Lane
Ms. Fink gave an inspection report. The driveway drainage system and yard looked stable. Ms.
Fink reminded the owner about the Conservation Restriction. The bank has not yet sent a letter
concerning the as-built plan. The Commission will waive the as-built plan but a letter has been
requested from the bank.

Salem Five Bank, 8 Walkers Brook Drive, and Hallmark Health, 30 New Crossing Road
The owners have sent their spring maintenance plan reports.
39 Old Farm Road
The Commission reviewed and accepted a list of native shrubs to be planted.
33 Old Farm Road
Ms. Fink has requested a site visit on June 1, 2010. She reviewed the records on file for this
property.
50 and 58 Mill Street
Ms. Fink reported a phone call from a neighbor about tree-cutting activity. She inspected and found
that that the owners had just finished cutting several dozen trees, including some within the marked
Zone of Natural Vegetation. Other portions of the ZNV had been mowed. Violation notices have
been sent and the owners have been asked to'file Notices of Intent.
Bare Meadow
Mike DeBrigard offered to top off the soil in Bare Meadow. The Commission will do a site visit
and consider the offer.
Adjournment
Motion made by Mr. Sullivan to adjourn the meeting. Mr. Tucker seconded, Vote was 5-0-0.
