HomeMy WebLinkAbout2007-08-23 ad Hoc Community Preservation Act Study Committee MinutesPursuant to a legally posted meeting the Ad Hoc Community Preservation Actstudy Committee convened on August 23 2007 at 7:10 PM in the Berger room Re g 1 Hall 16 Lowell St. Reading, Ma. Present Mary Ellen Stolecki, William Brown, Camille Anthony, Mark Wetze`and members Karen Herrick ( Historical) , Matt Wilson ( Fin Com) Absent Karen Flammia, Patricia Lloyd and Israel Maykut c The minutes of June 21 , 2007 where approved on a motion by Camille Anthony and second by Bill Brown. NOTE the meeting of July 12 , 2007 was cancelled due to lack of a quorum . Mazy Ellen gave out charts showing the amount of revenue if the act came into being for 2008 / 2009 and planned spending areas, a chart showing the amount of revenue had the Town voted in favor of the Act in 2000 and a chart showing the amount of revenue with no exemptions and $ 100,000 exemption and average surcharge. A question was raised how much more revenue would come from other properties since the chart was only single family homes . Tom Ryan also in attendance stated that it would not be much since single family homes make up 95 to 97 percent of all property. Mark Wetzel submitted a memo from the Conservation Committee showing potential use of CPA funds. Bill Brown reported that a seasonal employee could be hired for the proposed water treatment site at approximately $ 16, 000, since the ACT allows it. Matt Wilson questioned if there was any feeling in Town about the ACT and felt that if it where put forward and defeated it would be a death blow to ever bringing it forward again . Mary Ellen and Mark will work on a presentation to the Board of Selectmen September 18, 2007 . The meeting Adjourned at 8:20 PM Next Meeting September 13 , 2007 to review the final report .
