Meeting Notes Present at meeting: Ray Porter, Bing Xia, Michele Benson, Tracy Sopchak, Sophie , Joan Boegel, Ron D'Addario, and Gina Snyder who arrived a bit late. • Action Plan assignments were reviewed. Ron was removed from the Student and Youth group action. • Bing was asked to take over our computer data entry system for Cities for Climate Protection. Michele asked that Bing wait until she has the computer updated and loaded. He will take over this work when the computer is ready. • Tracy discussed her power point presentation for he selectmen's meeting coming up on February 24th. She plans to finalize her power point presentation after her meeting with Peter Hechenbleikner next Friday. • March 10th is the Community Connections deadline to add an entry. We may wish to advertise Earth Day scheduled for April 4th • Joan and Ray spoke of a possible bike swap. Members of Reading Cares have expressed interest in conducting such an event. Out grown and/or unneeded bikes would be exchanged for a more apropos bicycle or just donated for others to use. The bike swap could be part of our Earth Day festivities. • The suggestion was made that the electronics drop-off might be better located at the DPW. Last year at the RMLD traffic bottlenecked the entry of the building. • Joan agreed to investigate the means of dispensing with the remaining bikes. • The committee members gave a consensus vote in favor of participating in bike week. • Sophie was asked if the Recycling Committee would include a CFL drop off at he DPW along with the electronic pick-up. She would look into it. • Gina spoke of Walkable Reading and the Historical Commission sponsoring a bike tour of Reading's older homes with interpreters at designated homes. • Gina spoke of our Teach-In that CCP sponsored at the Senior Center. We agreed that we had done a good job with limited time to prepare. We estimated that six members of the committee were joined with 14 residents who included Camille Anthony and the police chief. We all participated in the program that pushed for action to remedy global warming. • We discussed the possibility of an instructional motion at town meeting to encourage residents to clear their sidewalks of snow to allow for pedestrian traffic. • We also discussed a weatherization project for the town's newly acquired log cabin on north Main Street. Joan mentioned grants at Genzyme that could support the weatherization effort. • End of minutes ....................Respectfully submitted, Ron D'Addario t .f
