Committee Notes for February 25, 2009. 7PM (Next Meeting - Mar. 11 at Town Hall)
Present were Michele Benson, Gina Snyder, Ron D'Addario, Tracy Sopchak, Joan Boegel, Bing Xia, Ray Porter and
Stephanie Anderberg.
Meeting opening -Chair Michele Benson opened the meeting.
Minutes - The item was tabled pending distribution of Ron's notes.
Earth Day Fair -Most of last year's vendors that have replied so far, are on board again this year. An
idea is to approach some of the Lego robotics teams about displaying their projects. Kids' tables could be set up in
the a/v room for more space. The committee discussed other ideas for groups which might have a display. There
was also a discussion on the logistics of a "bike swap" - can Reading Cares get volunteers to staff it?
Meeting with Peter, Selectmen's presentation and Green Communities Act - the shuttle funding is no
longer available for us - EOT cannot reserve it under the town's name. Still trying to determine if towns with
munis can access Green Community Act funds, if we are not members of Renewable Energy Trust/ MTC. Tracy
will check with Peter on next steps, and look into contacting Brad Jones to find out if he has better access to
answers.
Other Business - Belmont High requires graduating students to have completed 40 hours of
community service, so some kids there did a no-idling campaign.
