HomeMy WebLinkAbout1993-03-09 Board of Cemetery Trustees MinutesTOWN OF READING Board of Cemetery Trustees Tuesday, March 9, 1993 Pursuant to a Special Meeting called by Chairman Miller, the meeting of March 9, 1993, convened at 7:30 P.M. in the Arnold Berger Room, Town Hall, Reading, MA. Present: Joyce K. Miller, Chairman Daniel F. Driscoll, Secretary Carl H. Amon, Jr. Edward Fuller, Jr. Director Robert Keating of the Cemetery Division was also present. 1. Secretary's Report Mr. Amon moved, Mr. Fuller seconded, and it was unanimously voted to accept the Secretary's minutes of the March 2, 1993 Trustees Meeting. 2. Finance Committee Review and Change of Cemetery Budget The Finance Committee meeting of March 3, 1993 was attended by Chairman Miller, Mr. Silvaggi, Mr. Driscoll and Director Keating. The details of the meeting were reviewed, with the recommendation by the Finance Committee to delete the $16,077 from the General Fund for the Cemetery Budget resulting in a zero appro- priation from the General Fund. 3. Revised Budget Director Keating presented revisions in his budget to compensate for the loss of $16,077 from the General Fund. This included decreasing the Capital Outlay from $10,000 to $7,800. The supply budget was dropped from $31,250 to $26,075. Director Keating furnished a proposed revision in certain fees which would increase the annual income by approximately $12,000. After a discussion relative to means of balancing the budget it was agreed to accept Mr. Keating's proposed reductions in his budget. On a motion by Mr. Fuller, seconded by Mr. Driscoll, it was voted to increase the fees approximately $12,000 effective July 1, 1993 on a vote of three to one. 4. Publication of New Fees Chairman Miller was requested by the Trustees to have a paid notice published in the Reading Chronicle outlining the new fee schedule, necessitated by the lack of a appropriation from the General Fund. 5. Next Meeting The next scheduled meeting will be April 6, 1993. The meeting adjourned at 9:10 P.1 Respectfully submitted, Daniel Driscoll, Secretary
