Board of Cemetery Trustees Meeting
Tuesday - November 9, 1993
Pursuant to a meeting legally posted, the meeting of November 9,
1993 convened at 7:30 P.M. in the Berger Room, Town Hall Annex.
Present: John Silvaggi, Chairman
Joyce K. Miller, Vice-Chairman
Daniel F. Driscoll, Secretary
Carl H. Amon, Jr.
Edward F. Fuller
Director Robert Keating of the Cemetery Division was also
present.
1. Secretary's Report
On a motion by Mr. Amon, seconded by Mrs. Miller it was unani-
mously voted to accept the Secretary's minutes of the October 4,
1993 Trustees meeting.
2. Budget Review
Director Keating presented the FY95 budget and highlighted the
following:
a) Salary increases - Management 2 1/2% - Non-management 4% as
dictated by the Union contract.
b) Building Improvements - New furnace for Cemetery garage to
replace the present 30 year old furnace - estimate under $2000.
c) Capitol Equipment:
1) Development of Franklin Street Cemetery $30,000.
2) $10,000 to complete wall at Charles Lawn (funded by Sale of
Lots).
3) $10,000 paving roads at Laurel Hill (funded by Generel Fund).
On a motion by Mr. Amon seconded by Mrs. Miller it was unani-
mously voted to accept the Budget of $204,507.00.
3. Franklin Street Cemetery Development
Director Keating furnished the Trustees with the minutes of the
Phase One - Development. Attending with Town Manager Peter
Hechenbleikner, Bill Robertson - Town Engineer, Donald Nadeau -
Conservation Administrator.
Mr. Nadeau will complete the flagging of the wetlands and arrange
for the Conservation commissioners to walk the area. After soil
sampling is completed, the Cemetery Division will file a notice
of intent and schedule a Conservation hearing.
Mr. Robertson stated that in the next few weeks he will have the
Engineering Division survey the site and develop a site plan.
4. Receipts
Director Keating furnished the Trustees with copies of the
receipts from Sale of Lots and Miscellaneous charges for July
through October, 1993.
5. New Business
Mr. Fuller suggested that the Trustees review the Regulation of
demeteries book which was last updated in May 1989. One noted
omission is the regulations for flower pots at Charles Lawn which
the Trustees passed last year. All the Trustees agreed with this
recommendation.
6. Next Meeting
The next scheduled meeting will be December 7, 1993.
