HomeMy WebLinkAbout1994-05-04 Board of Cemetery Trustees MinutesTown of Reading Board of Cemetery Trustees Wednesday, May 4, 1994 Pursuant to a meeting legally posted, the meeting of May 4, 1994 convened at 7:30 P.M. in the Berger Conference Room, Reading Town Hall. Present: John Silvaggi, Chairman Joyce K. Miller, Vice-Chairman Daniel F. Driscoll, Secretary Carl H. Amon, Jr. Edward F. Fuller James J. Sullivan Director Robert Keating of the Cemetery Division was also present. 1. Secretary's Report On a motion by Mr. Fuller, seconded by Mr. Amon, it was unani- mously voted to accept the secretary's minutes of the April 5, 1994 Trustees meeting. 2. Revised Budget Financing Plan Director Keating reported that the revenues from the Sale of Lots was $8,954 less than the amount allocated for the FY95 Budget. In order to meet the Cemetery Budget of $212,036 it was requested that the Bequest Fund portion for the Budget be increased $8,954. On a motion by Mrs. Miller, seconded by Mr. Amon, it was unani- mously voted to transfer an additional $8,954 from the Bequest Fund for the FY95 Budget. 3. Memorial Dav Preparations Director Keating advised that there were 52 funerals in the first four months. The drought during the summer caused severe damage to the graves which were opened and seeded in the last three years. He has rented a renovation machine to cultivate and seed the areas that were dried out. Lawn matting is being used on these graves to germinate the seeding. Mowing and raking is progressing in all three Cemeteries. Mr. Keating reported that the Custodian of Veteran Graves, Frank Driscoll is prepared to handle the veteran markers. Last year he did an excellent job. 4. Receipts Director Keating furnished the Trustees with copies of the receipts from Sale of Lots and Miscellaneous charges for July through April 29, 1994. In comparison with the first ten months of the last FY year the Sale of Lots have increased from $26,000 to $27,900, and the fees increased from $75,000 to $92,000. 5. New Business Mr. Fuller, a ten year member of the Board of Cemetery Trustees, advised that he will not seek reappointment when his current term expires in June. 6.
