Board of Cemetery Trustees
Tuesday, June 6, 1995
Pursuant to a meeting legally posted, the meeting of June 6, 1995
convened at 7:30 P.M. in the Arnold Berger Meeting Room, Reading
Town Hall.
Present: John Silvaggi, Chairman
Joyce Miller, Vice Chairman
Daniel F. Driscoll, Secretary
Edward F. Fuller
Mary Vincent
Robert Keating, Supervisor of the Reading Cemeteries, was also
present.
Dedication of Carl H. Amon Way
Prior to the meeting the Trustees and Supervisor Keating met at
the Forest Glen Cemetery with Mr. & Mrs. Doug Amon (Carl's son)
to dedicate a granite marker naming the road by Carl's grave as
Carl H. Amon Way. Chairman Silvaggi read a lengthy citation
given by then Selectmen Chairman Graham before the Town Meeting
in 1991 on the occasion of Carl's forty years as a Town Meeting
member. The citation expressed all of the thoughts and memories
that the Trustees have of a man truly loved for his wit, deter-
mination and dedication over those many years as a public ser-
vant.
1. Secretarv Minutes
On a motion by Ms. Vincent, seconded by Ms. Miller it was unani-
mously voted to accept the Secretary's minutes of the May 2, 1995
Trustees Meeting.
2. Memorial Day Review
Supervisor Keating reported that new mowing equipment cuts the
grass higher and along with additional watering and seeding the
overall grass has grown better but requires additional mowing.
The Trustees commended Supervisor Keating and his men for the ex-
cellent appearance of the three cemeteries on Memorial Day.
3. Status on Conservation Determination on Wood End.
Supervisor Keating advised that he and Bud Dickey made slight ad-
justments on the boundary lines. He received the letter of
Determination last week. There is a ten day waiting period, if
no objection the letter of Determination will go to the Registry
of Deeds for recording. The work has to be completed in three
years. There is $13,000 left in the Development Fund which will
be used at Wood End.
4. Public Health Hearina Procedure
Supervisor Keating met with the Director of Human Services
regarding Chapter 114 of the General Laws - B.S.C. is preparinga
document outlining the location, description of property, soil
report, etc. for a Public Hearing on July 5, 1995 at 7:10 P.M. by
Public Health on Wood End.
5. Receipts
Supervisor Keating furnished the Trustees with copies of the
receipts from Sale of Lots and Miscellaneous charges for July
1994 through May 26, 1995.
6. New Business
The Trustees requested that Mr. Keating have a notice published
concering a Public Hearing by the Cemetery Trustees for neighbors
and/or any interested parties on the development of Wood End
Cemetery. The meeting will be Wednesday, July 5, 1995 at 7:30
P.M.
Mr. Fuller announced that the unexpired term of the late Carl
Amon which he had agreed to fill would be ending with this his
final meeting. Chairman Silvaggi speaking for the Trustees
thanked Ed for his outstanding dedication as a member of the
Trustees for the last eleven year. The wisdom and knowledge that
he imparted at the meetings will be missed. We all wish him our
very best.
7. Next Meeting
The next scheduled meeting will be Wednesday, July 5, 1995.
