HomeMy WebLinkAbout1996-04-02 Board of Cemetery Trustees MinutesTown of Reading Board of Cemetery Trustees Tuesday, April 2, 1996 Pursuant to a meeting legally posted the meeting of April 2, 1996 convened at 7:30 P.M. in the Berger Room, Reading Town Hall Annex, Reading, MA. Present: John M. Silvaggi, Chairman Joyce Miller, Vice Chairman Mary Vincent, Secretary Daniel F. Driscoll Randolph Harrison Robert Keating, Superintendent of Cemeteries was also in attendance. Secretary Minutes On a motion by Daniel Driscoll seconded by Randolph Harrison, it was unanimously voted to accept the Secretary's minutes of the February 6, 1996 Meeting. Old Business Steven Lowe, a guest who attended the February meeting of the Board, feels he is unable to serve as a candidate for Trustee at this time. The Board is searching for new potential members at this time. A knowledge of Town government would be helpful to a new member. Wood End Update Superintendent Keating reported that the Survey Division is staking roadways this week. Due to the severe winter weather, work is proceeding slowly. (The regular crews are working on getting the other cemeteries ready for Memorial Day). Bid packets for the stone wall are due back by May 2, 1996. Century Bank and Trust has been awarded the bid on the $100,000 - Bond Anticipation Note. The Board voted unanimously to have the Wood End sign in bronze. Budget Update The Budget will be presented at Town Meeting. Veteran's flowers are deleted as a budget item for us per request of the Trustees. Receipts The receipts are ahead of last y -ar's figures at this time. New Business The Cemetery Department ha:3 a new dump truck for FY97 and a sweeper included in the Capital Budget Plan. Temporary help for the summer is being hired now. Next Meeting The next scheduled meeting will be Tuesday, May 7, 1996 at 7:30 P.M. The Meeting adjourned at 8:20 P.M. Respectfully submitted, Mary R.
