HomeMy WebLinkAbout1996-11-06 Board of Cemetery Trustees MinutesTown of Reading Board of Cemetery Trustees Wednesday, November 6, 1996 Pursuant to a meeting legally posted, the meeting of November 6, 1996 convened at 7:30 P.M. in the Berger Room, Reading Town Hall Annex, Reading, MA. Present: Daniel F. Driscoll, Chairman John Silvaggi, Vice-Chairman Mary Vincent, Secretary William Brown Roc O'Connell Robert Keating, Superintendent of Cemeteries was also in attendance. Review of Past Meeting Minutes On a motion by Randolph Harrison, seconded by John Silvaggi, the minutes were accepted unanimously. FY 98 Budget Review Form A Oct. 30-961 Proposed Budget (1998) - Bequest Income was increased to $96,041. and Sale of Lots was decreased to $20,000. The Board approved the transfer unanimously. Form B - Step increases included Form C - Superintendent Keating noted budget item for special licenses - Commercial, Heavy equipment, HASMAT, etc. Form D- Discussion of waste oil heating source. Supertindent Keating explained to Trustees that this was an unreliable source of energy to be used. Superintendent Keating is checking with Town Manager Hechenbleikner on water in Cemeteries being metered. Parks and playgrounds are not. Budget FY 98 proposal accepted by the Board. Wood End Update Over 10" of rain fell in 2 day period. Wood End was flooded with rain water discharging into wet land area. Superintendent Keating is working with engineers to connect the catch basins with an equalizer pipe. Columbarium discussion: The Board decided that this would not be a feature at Wood End. A discussion was held regarding the use of a blue-stone wall at the inside circle of the Cemetery. There would be room for an Urn Garden in this area. Curbing in the front of the Cemetery to be installed shortly. New Business More review of Cemetery Rules and Regulations booklet by the Board. No final decisions made on changes.
