Board of Cemetery Trustees
Tuesday, July 1, 1997
Pursuant to a meeting notice legally posted, the meeting of July 1, 1997 convened at 7:30 P.M. in
the Berger Room, Reading Town Hall Annex, Reading, MA.
Present: Daniel F. Driscoll, Chairman
John Silvaggi, Vice-Chairman
Mary Vincent, Secretary
William Brown
Randolph Harrison
Roc O'Connell
Robert Keating, Superintendent of Cemeteries was also in attendance.
Review of Past Meeting Minutes
On a motion by Randolph Harrison, seconded by William Brown, the minutes of the June 3, 1997
meeting were accepted unanimously.
Woodend Update and Dedication Discussion
The National Guard did not show up until after noon on June 8, 1997. No work was done. They
have given us a new date of July 12, 1997 to start their project.
Work on the retaining wall and installation of lot lines is on going at this time. This work is being
done "in-house" saving about $10,000 on costs. There will be 2600 lot markers installed
Dedication date will be September 14 or 21, 1997. Superintendent Keating has contacted
Reading Clergy for their participation, Randolph Harrison has contacted Dave Bunton for a group
from R.M.H.S. Band, and Frank Driscoll is co-ordinating the Veteran's groups.
New Business
Mary Vincent and William Brown were re-appointed to the Board by the Selectmen for 3 year
terms.
Mary and Margaret Slack have donated $1500 for the purchase of wire trash containers for Forest
Glen.
Superintendent Keating had to notify several lot owners by letter about the rules for not planting
in the ground at the various Cemeteries. New sign will be made this Winter for the Cemeteries
setting forth the rules and regulations. A new law mower has been purchased paid for, through
the Capital Funding.
Interest rate on our 2nd $100,000 funding for Woodend has risen from 3.77 to 3.97%

The meeting adjourned at 8:45 P.M. The next meeting of the Trustees will be Tuesday, August
19, 1997.
