Review of Past Meetin Minutes
The minutes were accepted on a motion by Randolph Harrison, seconded by William
Brown.
Conine Peterson's Request
Mrs. Peterson requested that the Board allow her to have a single grave with monument
privileges (see letter). The Board told Mrs. Peterson the would take this request under
advisement and inform her of their decision. After Mrs. Peterson left, the Boar
discussed this request at length. Superintendent Keating explained the history of flat
markers for single graves dating back to 1847 at Laurel Hill. On a single grave the space
between the stones is very narrow. Suggestions were made on size of the monument
stone being smaller. Also, with Wood End being new, this is a good time to revisit our
rules and regulations. However, no one need by a lot in Reading if it does not meet what
they are looking for. The majority of the Board felt that they would like to consider and
render a decision at our next meeting.
Woodend Update and Dedication
The dedication, of Wood End was a very meaningful. ceremony. The Board send their
thanks to Maria Silvaggi for her excellent article in the Reading Chronicle.
Superintendent Keating said lots are being sold in Wood End.
Budget FY99
The Board reviewed the budget figures for FY99.
New Business
William Brown felt that the time may be coming when the Board should review its policy
of selling lots to former residents. After discussion, it was decided that Superintendent
Keating will keep a list of how many requests he receives from former residents over a
six month period.
Receipts
Receipts were reviewed by the Trustees.
Adjourn
The meeting adjourned at 7:15 P.M. The next meeting of the Trustees will be Tuesday,
December 2, 1997 at 6:00 P.M.
