Board of Cemetery Trustees
Tuesday, January 6, 1998
Pursuant to a meeting legally posted, the meeting of January 6, 1998 convened at 6:00
P.M. in the Berger Room, Reading Town Hall Annex, Reading, MA 01867
Present: Daniel F. Driscoll, Chairman
John Silvaggi, Vice-Chairman
Mary Vincent, Secretary
William Brown
Roc O'Connell
Robert Keating, Superintendent of Cemeteries was also in attendance.
Review of Past Meeting Minutes
The minutes were accepted on a motion by William Brown, seconded by Roc O'Connell.
Woodend Update
Sales are on-going at Wood End. there have been four burials as of this date. More
drainage work will be started in the Spring. There is need for a light for the flag pole at
Wood End. The Reading Municipal Light Department is looking into this and would
bear the cost for installing the lighting.
New Business
The budget which will go to the Finance Committee was reviewed by the Trustees.
The Trustees reviewed the policy of Veterans interments. In Charles Lawn and Wood
End in the Veteran's sections the lot must be paid for, but the interment fee is waived.
(The opposite is true at Forest Glen.)
Receipts
Sale of lots are up at Charles Lawn as well as pre-need sales at Wood End. Several
people had inquired about transfers from Charles Lawn to Wood End, but none has
transpired.
Adjourn
The meeting adjourned at 6:55 P.M. The next meeting of the Trustees will be Tuesday,
February 3, 1998 at 6:00 P.M.
