Review of Parks/Forestry and Cemetery Division Consolidation
Robert Keating has been officially appointed for a six-month trial period as Supervisor of
this Division.
Tree Donation by Charles McDonald at Charles Lawn
The Cemetery Trustees accept with grateful appreciation the generous gift of three
Japanese cherry trees donated by Charles McDonald. These trees have been planted at
Charles Lawn in memory of Norma M. McDonald and Elvino A. Abate.
Memorial Day Preparations
Due to the surge of warm weather in April the lawns at all cemeteries are green and
mowing has been done. The flowering shrubs should also be in bloom for Memorial
Day. Services will be held at all four cemeteries.
Wood End Update
Superintendent Keating has received a 1 year extension on completion of the rear of
Wood End from the Conservation Committee. The Highway Department will do the
drainage work required.
Receipts
Receipts were reviewed by the Board.
New Business
Mrs. James Melandy had asked Superintendent Keating about the placement of a stone on
her lot at Forest Glen. Mrs. Melandy requested the stone be placed at the other end of the
lot. Mr. Melandy recently passed away. The lot had been purchased in 1989.
Superintendent Keating explained to her that the lots had been laid out with the stones
facing the same way. He told her that he would bring her request to the Board. The
Board voted unanimously to support Superintendent Keating's decision. It was felt that
to grant this request would make it impossible to turn down any other the Board received.
Adjourn
The meeting adjourned at 7:00 P.M. The next regularly scheduled meeting of the
Trustees will be Wednesday, June 3, 1998 at 6:00 P.M.
Respectfully submitted,
Mary R. Vinc t
