HomeMy WebLinkAbout1999-01-05 Board of Cemetery Trustees Minutes/c/// Town of Reading Board of Cemetery Trustees Tuesday, January 5, 1999 Pursuant to a meeting legally posted, the meeting of January 5, 1999 convened at 6:00 P.M. in the Berger Room, Reading Town Hall Annex, Reading, MA 01867 Present: Daniel Driscoll, Chairman John Siivaggi, Vice-Chairman Mary Vincent, Secretary Roc O'Connell William Brown Robert Keating, Superintendent of Cemeteries was also in attendance. Florence Sorenson, who may be interested in becoming a trustee, was also in attendance. Review of Past Meeting Minutes On a motion by William Brown, seconded by Roc O'Connell, the minutes were accepted. Wood End Update Superintendent Keating reported that Wood End's lawns, roads, and sprinkler system are all in place. Finish work will be done in the Spring. Receipt Trustees reviewed receipts. Superintendent Keating reported there had been 22 burials in December 1998. New Business Superintendent Keating reported that all Cemeteries had received fertilization from the MWRA program which is free. Forest Glen will receive compost to enrich the soil, which is wearing thin after 75 years. The Town has a spreader and this will be done in-house. A four wheel drive diesel dump truck has replaced an older truck in the Cemetery fleet of vehicles. Superintendent Keating spoke of the difficulty of hiring good seasonal employees for the Department. Adjourn The meeting adjourned at 6:45 P.M.
