HomeMy WebLinkAbout2000-06-06 Board of Cemetery Trustees MinutesTown of Reading Board of Cemetery Trustees Tuesday, June 6, 2000 Pursuant to a meeting legally posted, the meeting of June 6, 2000 convened at 6:04P_M Room, 16 Lowell Street, Reading Town Hall. Present: Mary Vincent, Chairman Daniel Driscoll, Vice Chairman William Brown, Secretary Roc O'Connell Steve Meehan Janet Baronian in the Berg - Citizens Richard and Laurie Byron, and Robert Keating, Superintendent of Cemeteries was also in attendance. Review of Past Meeting Minutes Past minutes where approved with amendments, to reflect the election of Mary Vincent as Chairman and Dan Driscoll as Vice Chairman. General Business Citizens Richard and Laurie Byron spoke of flowers being stolen from a grave site. Mary Vincent and Bob Keating explained that it is an on going problem and that the police where aware of it, the Board requested reports in the upcoming months. The Board instructed Bob Keating to notify the Town Manager, so that the Selectmen will know. Robert Keating explained the rules with regards to planters etc., that they have been in place since 1929. He offered Mr. & Mrs. Byron to purchase a small tree in memory of his mother, this seemed acceptable. Bill Brown explained the motion made at Town Meeting, the $25,000 will go into the benefits, not salaries as proposed in the warrant. This way the Board can control it next year. Mary Vincent and Bill Brown where re-appointed for three more years by a vote of the Board of Selectmen. Receipts Receipts are down approximately $10,000 in misc. for the year. Difficult to forecast this revenue. Adjourn The meeting adjourned at 7:15 P.M. The next regularly scheduled meeting of the Trustees will be Tuesday, July 11, 2000 (Note: second Tuesday) at 6:00 P.M.
