The Board offered its heartfelt congratulations. Amy also announced that Executive Director Peter Smargon had finally arived at his vacation destination in Minnesota after driving through inclement weather for several days. Airy then offered an inspirational story involving a good Samaritan who helped a motorist stranded by the roadside. Asked what compensation he desired, the good Samaritan merely handed the beneficiary of his generosity a card with the saying: "Pass it on!". A long time later, the good Samaritan was himself stranded along the roadside and was moved when a passing motorist helped him out of his predicament and gave him the same card that the Samaritan had given out so many years before. The card had passed through many hands during those years and inspired many acts of kindness. Such kindness brings out the best in people! The Board unanimously voted to accept the minutes of the October 28 rr!eeting. The results of the sununer swinuning pool survey was distributed among the members. Amy and Mary Ellen were complimented for the good work they did in putting the survey together and tabulating the results. Board members were asked to review the comments and be prepared to discuss them at the Board's next meeting. There is a vacancy in the position of Reading Recreation Director. This has delayed negotiations of important agreements with the Town of Reading. The Assistant Director has temporarily been appointed acting director (he is applying for the position). A sununary was distributed showing the pool utilization during the month of October. The results are quite encouraging. In the ensuing discussion the issue was considered, what happens when a pool event is canceled due to unforeseen circumstances. The Y would like to notify potential users
