HomeMy WebLinkAbout2004-04-26 Aquatic Advisory Board Minutesr Aquatic Advisory Board Meeting Minutes April 26, 2004 ;t r. _ Attendance: Dan Berry (Associate Executive Director), Donna Griffith (Aquatics Director), Jack Downing (Reading Recreation), Lois Margeson ( RMHS Girls Coach), Jason Parry (Associate Aquatic Director), Tom O'Rourke (YMCA Representative), Klaus Kubierschky (YMCA- Rep rese MaryEllen O'Neill (Board of Selectman) Absent: Cam Townsend (YMCA Representative), Ken Holbrook ( RMHS Boys Coach) Minutes by: Dan Berry Tom opened the meeting at 6:05pm with an inspirational thought The meeting minutes were reviewed and accepted by the committee following changes listed in the March minutes (please refer to revised March Meeting Minutes). The vote was unanimous for accepting the minutes with revisions 5-0. Town Agreement: Tom handed out the Town of Reading Agreement/Benefits schedule and requested that the committee review the agreement and be ready to discuss how the committee in doing at the May meeting. The committee agreed to this and moved on to the next topic. ACTION: Review pool usage agreement for meeting on May 24th Summer Pool Usage/Marketing: The AAB moved into reviewing the Town of Reading/YMCA Summer swimming schedule and the marketing pieces for the program. Mary Ellen spoke about an increase in exposure to Reading residents about the benefits that they are entitled to in regards to pool usage. The following bullets reflect marketing areas that were discussed. - Run Summer Pool Schedule on RCTV all Summer - Make Schedule available at local library, Town Hall and Recreation Dept. - Run print ad with Y-Logo at bottom of advertisement instead of the top to de-emphasize the Y and emphasize that it is a town program in cooperation with the YMCA Emphasize in print materials that the program is open to Reading residents who are non- YMCA members - Have Rec department be responsible for placing ad on RCTV and on the town of Reading website through John Feudo (Rec. Director) ACTION: Mary Ellen and Dan will set-up a meeting with John Feudo to review additional marketing avenues using the Recreation Departments assistance. Dan followed up by saying that the YMCA can do press releases from June - August to promote the Summer swim program as well as put it on the Y's website. The Y can also send out a press release promoting the summer pool schedule on the YMCA's website. i Donna Griffith followed up by saying that the schedule could be ready by the first week of June for the public.
