Meeting Called to order at 7:36 PM.
The Committee was asked to review the minutes from the December 10th meeting.
J. Downing made a motion to accept the minutes from December 10th. M. Stolecki seconded the
motion. There was a brief discussion in regards to the minutes. Motion passes in favor of
acceptance of the December 10th minutes as amended 7-0-0.
J. Feudo stated that with the changes to the field fee structure it was now appropriate to look at the
policy to make sure it coincides with the fee change. He asked if the field sub-committee would
take some time to review and make any changes necessary. The Committee asked the Recreation
Administrator to "red line" correct the current policy and the Committee would review it in
February. J. Downing did recommend that the phase "Reading Resident and or employee" to
change to "Reading Resident or Employee".
Next topic discussed was the traditional summer registration day. There were two possible dates
available April 10 and 17th. Both presented somewhat of a problem. April 10th is the day after
Good Friday and the day before Easter Sunday and April 17th is the first day that school vacation
begins. After a lengthy discussion the consensus was to have the registration date on April 10th.
Patrick Fennelly entered the meeting at 8:15 PM.
J. Feudo next distributed a primary camp fee structure for the 2004 summer camps. The Committee
revised the structure and the recommendation was made to have the finance committee convene and
put together a revised recommendation. J. Feudo stated he could email the finance sub-committee
as copy of the expenses spread sheet.
J. Feudo handed out a letter from a resident thanking the Board of Selectmen for filling Castine
Field. The Recreation Committee discussed meeting with the liaison and Town Manager regarding
decisions made by the Board of Selectmen concerning Memorial Park. B. Winne stated he has been
'a
in touch with Gail Wood of the BOS and would be looking to set a meeting up with the two parties.

J. Feudo next presented the new logo he intended on presenting to the Town Manager. He stated
- that the Town Manager was not inclined to approve logos for separate divisions of government but
hoped an exception could be made. J. Feudo stated he would update the committee about this issue
in February.
ADMINISTRATORS REPORT
J. Feudo stated the winter programs continued to go well. Spring registration was a little bit slow
but was expected to pick up now that the Holidays were over. He introduced two new Reading
Recreation programs that will take place over February vacation. Biddy Basketball for K-2" d
graders and Backyard Wiffleball for 3- 8th graders. These programs will be mainly run by Program
Coordinator Dan McGrath with the assistance from a few H.S. students
J. Feudo asked if there were any people willing to volunteer for the Daddy /Daughter dance.
The Reading Recreation Web Page is up and running. J. Feudo stated he still needed to learn how
to update it. B. Winne asked the Committee if they felt it would be appropriate to give the Coolidge
Web Team a Pizza Party. The Committee seemed to think it was a good idea.
Finally, J. Feudo stated that he was approached by an organization about field fees. This particular
organization asked if it could be "Grand fathered" in to last years field rate due to the fact that they
started registration in September. The consensus of the committee that each organization had ample
notice of 3 months about the field fees being adjusted and it has come up over the past two years so
it should not have been much of a surprise to the organizations that field fees were going to be
changed. The Committee advised to deny the request.
SUBCOMMITTEE REPORT
J. Feudo stated that he and the Town Manager met with Mr. Danis owner of the Danis Property.
The Danis Property is the location of Frugal Fannies and K and G Men's Mart. Mr. Danis had
some plans of renovation that included a paved and fenced area for a skateboard park that the Town
would lease. The plans were in the primary stages and J. Feudo would let the committee know
once/if things move forward.
J. Downing made a motion to adjourn the meeting. P. Fennelly seconded the motion. Motion
passes in favor of adjourning 7-0-0.
Meeting adjourned at 9:10 PM
