This meeting of the Reading Finance-Committee was held in the
Arnold Berger Conference Room of Town Hall. The meeting was called
to order by Chairman Bill Burditt at. 7;40 P.M.

A. The Board of Selectman have called a meeting for
June u, 1991 to discuss the FY92 Budget in light of
the recent Special. Election. See memo from Peter
Hechenbl.eik:ner dated June 4, 1991•
B. The Finance Committee will meet on June 10, 1991 to
vote whether the FY92 Budget should be amended or returned
to Town Meeting as previously approved. The meeting
location to be announced at a later date.
C. Chairman Burdi't.t made it very clear that he is receptive
to any suggestions from any individual that will re=duce the
FY92 Bs_dget that was approved by Town Meeting. These
suggestions would be analyzed by the Finance Committee.
D. Dick Coco feels t.hat•. the recent election results an the
F Y92 Budget:. Muestions were sending a. message to Town
Got%r.":?rrlment• The message is reduce spending.
Several of the Finance Committee members interpreted the
results as meaning t.h..t•t voters are wi.ll.inci to reclUce
services in order to reduce spending.
Chairman Bt..trdi.t•.t requested that the Board of Selectman
•hot.O.d advise the f=inance Committee as to where theve coo
from here. Dill. also suggested that all Town Operating
Managers be available for input -to the Finance Committee„

Fred Van rIagnt_ts made a motion to reduce the request. for
T:Jf=W Equipment Maintenance from $20,000 to 15„000.
['date White felt that this motion to amend could leave
egUiprnent out of service and this would not be productive.
Nick reminded the Committee. that they would be meeting
again on other Reserve Fund Transfers and any funds not
expended would be returned to free cash at year end. Vote
on the amendment was 7-2-t-,„
Nicl,. requested through the Chairman that the Finance
Committee be provided with a. list of all Revolving Funds.
The Town Manager assured the Committee that controls are in
place concerning Revolving Funds and a listing is not
required. The Committee agreed.
E. Chairman Durdi.tt reminded those present. that all Finance
Committee Budget meetings alre open to the public and he
ti-jould welcome any suggestions or recommendations with
regard to the Fy92 Budget.

been very light.
F. Chairman BUrclitt advised the Committee that they had
responsibility to have one member of the Finance Committee serve on
the Ice Skating Rink: Committee„ Dill volunteered to serve on this
committee. The vote was 7-0
Motion to ad.jOUN-) was made by Gerry MacDonald and second by
Dick: Coco. The vote was 9-0-0 to adjourn a.•t 9:50 P.M..
