The meeting convened at 7:30 p.m. in the conference room, at
16 Lowell Street, Reading, MA.
The following members were present: Fred Van Magness, Jim
Keigley, Gerry MacDonald, Nate White, Liz Greene, Steve'Blewitt,
and Bill Murphy. Also in attendance was Town Manager Peter
Hechenbleikner.
Peter Hechenbleikner brought to the committee's attention that
three members are up for reappointment, Gerry MacDonald,
Nate White, and Fred Van Magness.
On motion by Nate White seconded by Gerry MacDonald the committee
voted to approve the April 15, 1993 minutes with corrections.
The motion was approved with a vote of 4-0-2 with Liz Greene
and Steve Blewitt abstaining.
The issues being discussed tonight are, an update on the FY
1994 budget, and to vote on article 7.
On motion by Nate White seconded by Gerry MacDonald the committee
/voted to support the amendments for the 1993 budget as enumerated.
The motion was approved with a vote of 7-0-0.
As of July 1, 1994 there will be $247,000 in free cash.
Fred Van Magness stated that at the end of the fiscal year
last year, the school department appropriated all of their
extra money and spent it. The finance committee needs to express
their concern for it to come back to free cash.
On Monday, May 3, 1993, Town Meeting will start the review
of the FY 1994 budget. Please trv to attend.
The Finance Committee adjorned their meeting at 8:20 p.m.
