January 13, 1999 igaq MAR -3 P 1: 52, The Finance Committee met in the Conference Room at Town Hall, 16 Lowell Street, Reading, Massachusetts at 7:30 p.m. Present were Chair Jim Keigley, Vice Chair Carol Grimm, Finance Committee members Catherine Martin, Richard McDonald, Paul Kurker, James Francis, Mary Grimmer also present were Town Manager Peter Hechenbleikner and Chief of Police Edward Marchand. Chief Marchand advised the Finance Committee of the need of a Satellite Receiver for North Main Street and a Satellite Receiver for the West side. The police department is having serious communication problems between the station and the officers. On motion by Carol Grimm seconded by James Francis the Finance Committee voted to approve a Reserve Fund Transfer to Account 01-111-5843 Police Communications Equipment for $11,436.00. The motion was approved by a vote of 7-0-0. On motion by Carol Grimm seconded by Richard McDonald the Finance Committee voted to approve a Reserve Fund Transfer for the Special Town Election to account 01- 052-5112-053 Elections Salaries for $6,335. and account 01-052-5380-053 Elections Expenses for.$2,630. The motion was approved by a vote of 6-0-1, with Keigley abstaining. Peter Hechenbleikner reviewed the preliminary outline of the FY 2000 Budget. Peter noted that the Condominium trash fee, staffing deployment studies and new program requests are in the budget Finance Committee Meetings: February 17, 1999 February 24, 1999 March 3, 1999 March 8, 1999 March 10, 1999 March 17, 1999 Accounting, Finance and Review March 22, 1999 Final Review Catherine Martin requested the FinCom visit the DPW. She will get back to the Committee with a specific date. Carol Grimm reported the Capital hnprovement Committee had a preliminary meeting. Peter Hechenbleilmer should have a better draft for the Committee on Tuesday, January 19, 1999. I Richard McDonald would like to see Town money go towards road repairs. page 2 On motion by James Francis seconded by Richard McDonald the Finance Committee voted to appoint Mary Grimmer as a member to ad hoc Water Supply Advisory Committee. The motion was approved by a vote of 7-0-0. On motion by James Francis seconded by James Keigley the Finance Committee voted to adjourn at 8:30 p.m. by a vote of 7-0-0.
