HomeMy WebLinkAbout1984-04-10 Board of Selectmen Minutes Meeting Notes April 10, 1984 Members Present: M. O'Brien, P. Dustin, P. Landers, J. Russell, M. Zigler. The Board voted to approve unemployment benefits for the month of February in the amount of $36.00. i The Board voted to approve the request of the Church of the Good Sheppard to place directional signs for their Antique Show on October 13th. However th Board denied their request for a three sided promotional sign to be placed on the common. Mr. Dustin abstained from voting. The Board acknowledged a letter from the M.D.C. regarding a Town sewer discharge permit and referred it to the D.P.W. The Board approved a request from the School Department to exceed the expenditure of $10,000.00 dollars for legal counsel in connection with collective barganing. The request was made under M.G.L. Chapter 71 Section 37E. The Board approved a request from Nuala Boness for permission to hold a "Fun Run" from North Reading Common to Reading Memorial Park in behalf of the Committee to elect Sandy Trainor for State Representative. The Board requested the Executive Secretary to prepare a letter for their signature requesting the Treasurer to establish a seperate bank account for Workman's Compensation funds. The Board met with Ray MacDonald and a member of the Finance Committee to go over the recent Audit Committee's report. After a lengthy discussion in which Mr. MacDonald agreed to make certain changes in procedures the Board requested that a revised bill be obtained from the Municipal Light Department for 1984 Street Lights. The Board also asked the Executive Secretary to get the Blue Copies of the Audit Report and distribute to the Audit Committee. The Board acknowledged a grievance from the D.P.W. labor Union.
