HomeMy WebLinkAbout1984-02-21 Board of Selectmen Minutes MEETING NOTES February 21, 1984 Members Present: Maureen O'Brein, Paul Dustin, Paul Landers. The Executive Secretary gave his report in which he stated that the Animal Inspecter had found a home, out of state, for the Maynard -dog. He also brought to the Board a late - filed request by the Reading Jaycees for a One-Day Liquor License for March 3, at Camp Curtis Guild Armory. The Board voted their approval. The Board signed the Warrant for the Annual Town Meeting and also the weekly Warrant. The Board opened bids for the Town Report. Three bids were received and on the recommendation of the Executive Secretary awarded the bid to Bailey Press of Boston. Mr. Paul Dustin read a proclaimation given by Leslie McGonagle of the Reading Gymmnastics Academy, which proclaimed April 1, 1984 as Olympic Sunday. The Board then signed the proclaimation. The Board voted to renew a taxi cab license for Melrose Cab. The Board read a request from Jean Mullen of the Reading Art Association concerning its Spring Art Festival on June 2, 1984. In the request she asked for use of the old Library building and grounds for that day as well as a parade permit and use of the Common. The Board requested the Executive Secretary to send copies of the letter to the Police and D.P.W. for their imput and to check on such items as insurance, the flying of a banner, etc. When the information is received ask the Art Association to come in and talk with the Board. The Board took the 45 Articles for the Annual Town Meeting and placed them in appropriate order. JWA/lc 2/24/84
