HomeMy WebLinkAbout1983-11-07 Board of Selectmen Minutes MEETING NOTES 11/7/83 Members Present: Russell, O'Brien, Dustin, Landers. The Board opened the meeting by holding interviews with the five persons who had submitted proposals for buying or leasing the Depot. Each was allowed fifteen minutes. These were: Mr. Buks, interested in a resturant; Mr. Joly & Mr. Jurly from Century 21, interested in either a resturant or business space; Burton & Linda Long, interested in renting for an energy store; John Rivers, a developer, interested in buying; and Mr. Sewall, interested in leasing for a resturant. Most of the persons were interested in buying and all expressed the desireability of an outside waiting room for train commuters. The Board then took the proposals under advisement to be discussed at a future meeting. The Board then met with Bud Latham who represented Continental Wingate who has an article on the Fall Town Meeting Warrant to open a nursing home. Mr. Latham asked the Board for their endorsement of this article. Mr. Landers moved that the Selectmen vote in favor of Articles 35 and 36 relating to Contenental Wingate. Mr. Dustin seconds and it was so voted 3-0. Mrs O'Brien and Mr. Rosenthol were absent during the vote. The Board then held a general discussion on the John St. articles. Ken Latham representingTasc also spoke. After some discussion Mr. Dustin move that the Selectmen support Article 10, The Tasc Motion, it was so voted 3-1 with Mr. Russell voting against and Mr. Rosenthol absent Mr. Dustin then moved that the Board take no action on Articles 7,8,9, and 11. The vote was 3-1 with Mr. Russell disenting and Mr. Rosenthol absent. The Board then discussed the Space Committee Articles. After a lengthy discussion the Board voted against Article 27 (move to Pearl St. School) 3-1 with Mrs. O'Brien voting against. The Board authorized the Chairman Mr. Russell to sign the Section 8 H.U.D. contracts for the comming year in conjunction with the Housing Authority. The Board approved the legal bills for Alan Druelman for the month of October. 11/14/83/lc
