HomeMy WebLinkAbout1983-04-13 Board of Selectmen Minutes MEETING NOTES April 13, 1983 Members Present: John Russell, Paul Dustin, Maureen O'Brien. The Board reviewed the Clerical Union Contract. Two corrections were needed, these were: Page 17 sixth line after "had previously worked" add "and/or", Page 22 amount should read ".40" not $"$6.40" Mrs. O'Brien then moved that the Board accept the contract between the Town and the Clerical Union subject to the correction of the errors as stated. It was so voted. The Board then reviewed a letter concerning the Police Liability Insurance from Hastings and Tapley. After a brief discussion Mr. Dustin moved that the Board award the Insurance contract for the Police Liability to the Great South- western Insurance Co. with the policy running from April 183 to April '84. Mrs. O'Brien abstained from voting. The Board then reviewed the land that is proposed for public auction. Mrs. O'Brien had compiled a summary of comments from many of the Town's Departments concerning each parcel. At the end of the review the Board gave the Executive Secretary a list of parcels which they asked him to submit back to the Assessors to obtain a clarification of minimum values the Town should accept if the parcels are auctioned. These are: Plot Parcel 123 89 137 9 79 54 137 17 137 26 35 27 13 69 79 55 & 80 Meeting Notes 4/13/83 Members Present : J. Russell, P. Dustin and M. O' Brien. The Board reviewed the Clerica Union Contract and voted on two changes : Page 17 , sixth line, add "and/or" after "previously worked : " Page 22 should read . 40,,, instead of $6 . 40. Mrs . O'Brien then moved that the Board accept the American Federation of State County and Municipal Employees , AFL-CIO Council 93 , Local 1703 labor agreement subject to the corrections of errors as. noted . The Executive Secretary suggested that once the Clerical Union Contract was signed a meeting of all Department Heads be called and have Attorney Drachman explain the contract to them. The Board agreed. The Board then voted to accept the Great Southwestern Insurance Co . , to provide Police Liability Insurance Coverage from April , 1983 to April , 1984 . It was so voted 2 - 0 with Mrs . O ' Brien abstaining. The Board instructed the Executive Secretary to contact Town Counsel to draw up legislation so the medical bills accummulated prior to the Town' s acceptance of Chapter 100B could be paid. The Board also instructed the Executive Secretary to get transparancies of the Depot area and proper land descriptions for Town Meeting. Also they requested the D.P .W. to measure the distance from the Depot to the nearest Town public parking lot . The Board approved a request of the Reading Youth Baseball Women' s Auxiliary to use the T'own Hall Parking Lot for their Annual Garden Sale on May 7 , 1983 . The Board then proceded to review the land that might come up for public auction. After the review the Board instructed the Executive Secretary to check back with the Assessors and have them once more check certain parcels and forward to the Selectmen minimum prices the Town should set if auctioning them.
