HomeMy WebLinkAbout1983-01-13 Board of Selectmen Minutes Meeting Notes January 13, 1983 Members Present: M. Rosenthal, J. Russell and J. Price. The Board voted to renew Common Victualler's Licenses for Hank & Linda's Restaurant, 1349 Main St. , Stephen's Place, 2 Haven St. , and Pizza World, 581-583 Main St. The Board then met with the Treasurer to discuss the Data Processing Budget and to discuss the new rates presented by Blue Cross/Blue Shield. After a short discussion Mr. Price moved the sum of $102,500 for the non-energy expense portion of the Data Processing budget. It was so voted 3 - 0. The Board then heard from the Treasurer and Mr. Coughlin representing Blue Cross on forthcoming rate increases which amounts to a 31% increase. A lengthy discussion followed. The Board voted to approve the Town Forest Committee budget in the amount of $500.00 for expense. The Board voted to approve the Civil Defense Budget in the amount of $2,100 for salaries and expense. The Board met with Mr. Winam, the Veteran's Agent to go over his budget. During the discussion there was confusion concerning the correct salary figures. The Board requested the Executive Secretary to get a complete salary breakdown and history of the clerk. Mr. Price moved the sum of $1,121.50 for expenses and it was so voted. Mr. Price moved that the Board approve one full-time and one part-time person and leave the clerk at the current hours until the Board could make another evaluation in the Spring. The Board then disucssed the barricade at Grove St. The discussion centered around where the barricade could be placed and if a release was needed from the home owner at 132 Grove St. The Board decided to get a ruling from Town Counsel. The Board asked if the Executive Secretary would: send letters to the Town's representatives in the legislature concerning the Fire Chief Law, the Parkland bill and the Blue Cross/Blue Shield; to contact the M. M. A. concerning a change in the laws regarding Blue Cross/Blue Shield and to check on any outstanding burglar alarm tickets at the Reading Savings Bank. 1/17/83 fph
