HomeMy WebLinkAbout1986-05-20 Board of Selectmen Minutes BOARD OF SELECTMEN EMERGENCY MEETING May 20, 1986 The meeting was convened at 7:40 p.m. by Chairman Landers. Superintendent Fletcher and Assistant Superintendent Redford presented the Dept. of Public Works plans for the relocation of offices from the Community Center neces- sitated by the sale of the building. Questions from the Board of Selectmen and those in attendance were addressed, and after some discussion a motion was duly made, seconded and Voted: that the relocation plan as submitted by Superintendent Fletcher be approved and implemented. Superintendent Fletcher then presented Phase II, or the long range plan for resolving space and relocation problems and handicap access to the buildings. During his presentation Mr. Fletcher stated that his opinion that the stacks could be removed from the Library had been 'confirmed by professionals, pro- viding additional space for consideration. Again questions from the Board, representatives from the Municipal Space Building Committee, the Historical Commission and citizens regarding physical changes in the structure of the buildings, compliance with state codes and regulations, and the handicapped elevator were answered. After additional discussion, the Board of Selectmen, allowing there were many options available and these plans were not final, approved the basic concept for the renova- tions to the Town Hall and the Old Library (Annex) ; and instructed the Superintendent to obtain costs for the proposed plan. Mr. Nordberg of the Municipal Space Building Committee commented on his concern that the Committee was not informed that this project had been under- taken, but indicated his Committee would like to work on developing these ideas. The meeting adjourned at 10:30 p.m. Eugene R. Nigro, Secretary /cj g On motion made by seconded by C,q ILI, the Board of Selectmen voted unanimously to recommend to the Law Committee the reappointment of Allan Drachman of Holland, Crowe & Drachman. This was submitted to the Law Committee, and I believe they acted on it at their last meeting. k 5/23/86/cjg
