May 26, 1987
The Board of Selectmen convened in the Executive Offices , 6
Lowell St. , Reading, MA at 7: 30 P.M. Present were Chairman Rus-
sel, Secretary Graham, Board members Ziegler and Landers Town
Manager, Peter I . Hechenbleikner, and Vice Chairman Nigro arriv-
ing at 8 : 10 P.M.
On motion by Graham and seconded by Landers the Board voted 4-0-0
to release the Executive Minutes of August 25 , 1986 .
On motion by Ziegler and seconded by Landers the Board voted
4-0-0 to release the Executive Minutes of September 29 , 1986 .
On motion by Grahan and seconded by Ziegler the the Board voted
4-0-0 to release the Executive Minutes of November 24 , 1986 .
On motion by Landers and seconded by Ziegler the Board voted
4-0-0 to release the Executive Minutes of December 8 , 1986 .
Mr. Ritchie a member of the Reading ms' s Men' s Club was present to
request permission from the Town of Reading to use the parking
lot located on Birch Meadow Drive, opposite Coolidge Junior High
School for the purpose of holding a Carnival from: Thursday thru
Sunday, June 18th thru the 21st. The Board had no objections as
long as the Y' s Men went through the proper channels in the Town.
Chris Copeland, the new Recreation Director was present to meet
the Board of Selectmen.
On a motion by Landers and seconded by Graham the Board approved
4-0-0 the Policy on Use of Town Owned or Leased Vehicles.
On a motion by Landers and seconded by Graham the Board approved
4-0-0 the Policy on Use of Personal Vehicles for Town Use.
Residents of Baystate Road were pres=ent to discuss their con-
cerns. Mr. Jim McTagcat spoke in reference to the "gates" . The
property owner Wes Parkers wants to modify the site plan by put-
ting a couple of gates in the fences and allow for much of the on
site deliveries to take place on the building side of the fence
through the parking lot. CPDC approval is needed . Another con-
cern of the residents is to remove light. Mr. Hechenbleikner has
asked the property owner to relocate the flood lights so that it
seines onto the parking lot away from the homes. The neighbors
comp�ained about the noise of the air-conditioning unit on the
roof . - The property owner has agreed to look at the possibility
of screening the stir-conditioner.

Residents present regarding the Reading Depot Parking issue were
as follows:
Mr. & Mrs. Charles Herrick Vine Street
William Welch Chapel Hill Drive
Ted Buyniski 123 Woburn St.
Susan Nelson Vine St.
Mrs. Herrick stated the fact that she would hope that there would
be some improvement to the Mishwaum Station. Susan Nelson had a
number of questions. First question was which side rail addition
would be put on, second are the safety issues involved. Ted
Buynski is concerned about noise control , air pollution, and
public parking adjacent to residences.
Romeo Marquis was present with Consultant ' s Report. Conclusion
and recommendations are as follows ; Chief Executive play a
stronger role in setting polic-es ; Inter Boar. Meetings with
Board of Selectmen, Fin Ccm, School Committee :, Secretarial Stiff.
